Believe it?? I just want to understand it. How can it be understood if it uses undefined measures like "cubits" and "spans" to describe its people and things? (Actually, "span" is defined. It's 9 inches.)

There's an archaeological dig in Turkey that many believe to be the remains of Noah's ark. It is 538 feet long. The Bible is clear that the ark was 300 cubits long. Doesn't this show that a cubit is 1.79 feet long? The Bible further states that Goliath's height is six cubits and a span. That's 10.74 feet plus one span (9 inches), or 11 feet 6 inches.

That's WAY different from either 6.5 or 9.5 feet.

Now, how can something that is so exceedingly important as the Bible be so completely unanalyzed by its adherents? I don't think I'll ever get that. This is Holy Week, though, and so I am running into a lot of folks who are trying to explain it to me.

Today's "finding"? What ... did Wikipedia unearth Goliath's skeleton?

Sorry, there's no there, there.

You're focused on unknown and irrelevant minutiae.

If you do not wish to believe the Bible, fine ... that is certainly your prerogative ... but, claims of proving yourself right is just silly.
