Monodendri. Check out the pictures. Amazing amount of walking in these mountains. My legs hurt yesterday from a 3 mile hike in Konitsa along the Aoos river. Other famous villages are Papigo, Vitsa, there’s 45 of them up here.
No wonder the locals li e forever, they walk up and down these paths day in day out. Waters run everywhere, you fill your bottles, swim in the lakes and rivers, if your legs hold the sudden onslaught of walking up and down at 4000 feet up and down to 7 or 8 thousand….Hikes can be shorter or take 7 hours.
The streets are cobbled/tiled, etc., from the old days do people amd animals could make it up and down loaded in winter…Houses are built of rock, nothing else, exquisite designs even in ceilings. I’d love to spend a couple weeks in Christmas up here…..
Going on a short 20 min hike to a vista where there is a stunning view of the Vikos gorge.
