The timing is a risk for Trump. He may not like his sentencing to occur just before the election.

I don't see any appeal about presidential immunity being successful in this case, as it relates to a period before he was president.

BREAKING: Judge in Trump’s hush money trial delays sentencing following Supreme Court immunity ruling
The judge in Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial approved a delay of the former president’s sentencing after his lawyers asked for more time to review the potential impact of the Supreme Court’s immunity decision.

He had been set to be sentenced on July 11. The sentencing now won’t take place until at least Sept. 18.
