Oh my god. That is terrifying. I can see why you'd want to be awake in future.

I've only had one such operation and was out like a light but it felt different from sleeping. It was like a gap in time for me.

As long as I didn't feel pain I'd prefer to be awake.

Once when I had surgery they didn't have me out enough, I could hear them in slow motion, I felt like I was buried alive. I didn't feel anything but it was terrifying!

I was told it happens.
But now I warn them & haven't had that problem.
