I know that's a big principle for Americans. But for me, the boundary can be fuzzy. eg Moses' and Pope Innocent III's portraits appear in your Capitol as two of several celebrated lawgivers. They are religious figures as well, of course. Separation of church and state?
As regards the Ten Commandments, they have a historical value as a record of what was remembered by the Israelites about their Bronze Age laws (although their memories were a bit dodgy). So how about making it obligatory to have these other stone tablets placed on classroom walls also. Maybe your constitution also. Give the ten commandments some context. The Bible isn't original in this regard. It's derivative of earlier practices.
Did God copy? Looks like it. Do ideas of justice change? Yessirree. They still do. That's a problem yall have today where you are trying to apply an outdated constitution to modern circumstancs [first witness: bump stocks and second amendment].
Anyway, maybe Louisiana believes in the magical, vengeful, invisible, authoritarian God in the Old Testament, who isn't really my cup of tea. If their aim is to impose him on everyone regardless of their religion or agnosticism, forget it.
