But I guess the point is, there's no law without authority.

I think they are over-reaching.

The UN and other bodies may not like what they see in Gaza. But what happens there is decided by a different cast of characters. What they have done is shown they have no teeth.

My impression (and I could be wrong) is that what Israel is doing in Rafah is not as brutal as what it did earlier on in the war. And within the bounds of conducting a war as humanely as possible, I see no reason that Israel should not continue to pursue Hamas.

Hamas can always give back the hostages and surrender if it wishes. It chooses not to every bit as much as Israel chooses to continue. You know I'm no fan of Netanyahu. But if it wasn't him, I'd still understand Israel's continuing desire to fight while Hamas exists. It was and still is Hamas' strategy to hide behind its own people. Hopefully, the Palestinians will decide never to be governed by such people ever again.
