It was boringly stable.
Then Merkle opened the floodgates to let an overwhelming number of illegal migrants into Europe at once. Far too many to be absorbed into local cultures.
Sweden seemed content to accept a large number of them, thinking its friendly supportive model would soon turn the immigrants into happy, tolerant Swedes. And immediately started experiencing higher crime, gangs, violence against women and so on.
Well, apparently it is a continuing disaster.
We can learn from Sweden's experience. I don't think Republicans are wrong in principle to be concerned about the number of immigrants coming into the US. And that many of them aren't doing so legally.
In terms of my country, I'm pro-immigration at a sensible level. But I am not a supporter of illegal immigration or of immigration on a vast scale.
Is that what Dems wish for in the US?
