We gave in, gave up on my wife's '07 Civic, she wanted all the latest safety widgets, and boy did we get them.... Looked and looked, but dealers had big markups over MSRP, and didn't really have what we wanted. But one local Toyota dealer had no markups and as such had it, someone had ordered what we wanted, then cancelled the order. it came in on a Friday, we ran up, bought it... RAV4 Hybrid, Limited, AWD, has a few more add ons, like a moon roof & luggage rack we didn't care about, but a far price, dealer tried throwing on extended warranty and some other stuff we signed off on that night, but went back, canceled $5K of them the next morning...

It's been 6 months, so we're due for it's first service, mileage averages out to 38.5 or so, some tanks are less, some as much as 45 mpg... Ride's a little rough, just the higher pressured tires, so it's fine, we have all the bells n whistles, tend to drive it myself more than I though...

YouTube on the drive train is what sold us on the EAV4, it's all planetary gearing, computer controls the interactions, no clutches, just the speed control of the electric motors, vs the 4 cylinder engine. pretty slick...

So I need to set up the 1st service... See how it goes...

We looked at the CRV, but a tad too long for our garage as I used part for a laundry room, many years ago, and the comparison of the drivetrains led me back to the RAV4...

Hybrids and plug-in hybrids are being pushed now following the EV MALFUNCTIONS DEBACLE IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES THIS WINTER.

It makes sense, and they also are pushing for more efficient, less polluting gas vehicles. Sounds reasonable.

I won’t buy an EV, I could look at a hybrid, but all that is moot as I own three awesome cars.
