Might it actually release a bit of the tension in the world if Iran was occupied by a war?

Their mullahs always seem to be attacking someone, either directly or by proxy. Seems to be their nature.

Pakistan would be a fairly substantial adversary for them. Maybe they wish to create a new Shia Islamic empire, on the scale of the ancient Achaemenid one or the more recent Mughal empire.

Good Lord.

If it builds from here, that would be a war that came out of nowhere from my ignorant perspective.

I had no idea there was any hostility there at all. Hardly aware they even have a border although when I think about it, they must.
