Maybe their eyes were finally opened by Trump's innovation of developing rule by the mob via social media as a new and parallel type of power structure. The mob being not the Italian mob but the one described by Shakespeare in Coriolanus.

Trump is using this to intimidate politicians and the courts. He's succeeded with the GOP so far. We'll see if the judges are brave enough to imprison him as the villain he is.

If there is any innovation of the internet that is proving toxic, it is large scale, anonymous social media. The sooner it fragments, the better.

is quite loud and shocked at what that party has become. I'm talking about people like Liz Cheney, George Conway and Jen Rubin.

They say many sensible things.

But you do have to ask, what took them so long to notice the problem. The GOP has been off the rails at least since Dubya. And the rot was there before that with Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and Gingrich.
