Gunman in Jacksonville shooting wanted to kill Black people, sheriff says
A white gunman fatally shot three Black people in a racially motivated shooting at a Dollar General retailer in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday afternoon, Sheriff T.K. Waters said.
The shooter left messages of hatred for Black people and had swastikas on his weapons. He left three messages that detailed, in part, his “disgusting ideology of hate,” according to the sheriff. The FBI has opened a federal civil rights investigation and is investigating the shooting as a hate crime.
