I use oil from Greece, which I get from a friend who imports it from a friend of his producer there, first press virgin olive oil, blah blah blah. It comes in a big can that I pump it out from into bottles, and it is great. We use it for salads, garnishes, etc., not so much for cooking other than to add flavor. For cooking we use oil from Costco, virgin and regular, some are blends from Italy, Spain, Greece, and some virgin from Spain. Last year I had to take it back because it was extremely bitter. I spoke to someone who knows olive oil and he told me the bitterness is from drought. Spain has been the most affected. No more Spanish oil for me, for now. Greece has been largely spared and Italians sell virgin oil they buy in bulk from Greece as their own. You never know with Italians…..
