Kansas newspaper raided by police will get seized items back after warrant is withdrawn
A police department in Marion, Kansas, must immediately return items seized from the offices of a small newspaper after the county prosecutor said the department had “insufficient evidence” to warrant the raid. Officers raided the Marion County Record on Friday in a case that infuriated press freedom watchdogs, who claimed that the law enforcement action was a blatant violation of constitutional rights.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is now investigating the incident.
