Btw, no fires in the Turkish coast, only a few miles from Rhodes, no fires in Italy with higher temperatures than Greece. Similar landscapes, especially in Turkey.
There is a new fire in Karystos, close to Athens on the island of Evia, where I’ve been several times, and a friend owns a village home in the lush hills above the town, and where I remember once in the summer of ‘99, we were sitting on a porch at 1am listening to nightingales singing their song. If you haven’t heard them, it is one of the best treats of nature. I wonder if their habitat is now burning up.
