I appreciate and understand all of that.

But when things like this happen, they are usually indications of other issues too.

We may not have a pattern of trans killings yet. But we certainly have quite a number of people killing children. And that is way beyond primal scream territory.

It may simply mean that insane people can't be accommodated in a gun-owning society.

Or it may mean that sane people are living utterly hellish lives and are so angry they are willing to break the most inviolable taboos.

So, yes, guns are a massive issue. But I think there are other things here too which are being revealed by gun crimes but not identified by them.

Why are people doing this? I dunno. I can't get myself into the mindset of that kind of violent desperation. But the problem isn't going to be cured responsively. We need to figure out what the problem is and prevent it from occurring in the first place.

People should be allowed to live they way they want, as long as that doesn't hurt others.

Choices should not be a problem, as long as your/my version isn't forced on others.

If I want to marry a consenting adult, no matter their color, religion, or gender, that should be MY choice.

If I want to have children, that should be MY choice.

People should NOT be allowed to walk down the street carrying guns. That puts others at risk, including cops.

Children need to wear seatbelts for safety in cars.

Yet, they go to school and can be killed by guns.

Books don't kill children, drag queens don't kill children.

GUNS kill children!
