That meeting might go one of two ways. Chinese support. Or Xi tells Putin to stand down as the costs of the war are too great and it may damage China too.
I hope it's the latter. It looks quite likely to me, although it's not what folks are predicting. But Xi may see a nice opportunity for China in assuming the senior role and making Russia something of a vassal state.
They won't want Russia to fall apart with all of the land west of the Urals becoming pro-democracy, leaving the poorer Asian part of Russia as a big but nearly empty rump state.
The alternative is they back him. But they must be contemptuous of his military by now.
