Today, Edward, fourth son of Elizabeth and already a prince, became Duke of Edinburgh. Not for doing anything. But really for not doing much that anyone notices. At least he did no damage and has a nice wife.
Prince Andrew is trying to make a comeback, but already has the Duke of York title from his mum.
Harry and Meghan, the Sussexes, have just claimed prince and princess titles for Archie and Lilibet. I'll grant that it is pretty cool to have a Prince Archie. But cripes, they aren't really going to be British, so the titular elevation is for their lives in America. And America, for good reason, isn't much impressed by titles, at least in theory. Harry and Meghan should let all of that stuff go if they want to give their kids the chance of a more ordinary life.
Generally-speaking, they should just stop the family title thing. Being a prince is sufficient, if born to it and working for the crown. Get rid of all the duke stuff, especially for ones not in the direct line.
