ps I am not following Israel at the moment, but the US needs to understand that even its closest allies have minds of their own.
That's to say, remember who's beside you when the shit hits the fan. The rest of it doesn't matter so much. Indeed, friendships are built by being supportive even when you don't agree with everything.
Or put another way, I don't much like Netanyahu, but I don't have an answer to the predicament of the Israelis and Palestinians both demanding control of the same bits of land. But they are your strongest allies in that region. You probably don't want to lose that relationship.
