I do understand the domestic perspective. I am on your side with that.
But Biden is trying very hard to damage us for leaving the EU because having the UK in the EU is convenient for him. He used the UK-US trading relationship to block us in Northern Ireland. Now he's refusing to negotiate on technology in case, as he says, the EU objects. These are things he's doing willfully.
Guess what? I'd rather the US is inconvenienced by its president than that we are. Trump was bad enough. Biden has been poor for us too. It would be nice if the relationship worked in both directions. But it kinda seems we support the US whenever it needs it (eg over Afghanistan and Iraq) but the US just doesn't return the favour so much (eg no advance warning over the US abandoning Afghanistan and no post-Brexit trade treaty). At least, other than Trump, Republicans have helped ... but Dems not so much.
I supported Biden over Trump for your sake, as well as ours. But the Dems are poor allies for us. They seem determined to turn the EU into a mini-America. Not what I want at all. And to treat the UK as an unpleasant uncle that is tolerated, not liked.
As you know, I have been very keen for the GOP to become more sensible in its domestic politics. But that isn't happening. Even so, I'd prefer a president that is more supportive of the UK. And that isn't Biden, nor ever will be.
