Strange situation.
If you don't agree with what he said, and I think it is worth pondering myself (meaning that I haven't really decided what I think because it's complicated, not that I think he's right), I still think it's a richer society that allows people to have obnoxious opinions than one that creates algal blooms where no divergent opinion is allowed to exist.
There are lines no one should cross, but I don't think what he said is over them, any more than that some people answered the poll with an answer that offended the cartoonist. They also have opinions it is worth knowing rather than concealing.
Otherwise you end up with unpublished conversations and unopposed nonsense.
