That would be me.

I left CA a long time ago, 2005. I sold my property. I closed my bank accounts. Affairs related to my parents' estate finished some time back. All I've got in California now is a sister and a son.

If a person has moved out of California, divested themselves of any and all California property in prior years, has no ongoing California-source income, and has not been present inside California for 183 or more days during the tax year, then California will have to pound sand. The California apparatchiks might be delusional enough to think their state government is the equivalent of the U.S. federal government, but they are looney tunes.
