I run ccleaner every single day. I also run Malwarebytes pro which I purchased some years ago. It came with ten licenses then and I have used them all on different machines. Between the two I don't really have cookie accumulations and I use the VPN on opera.
For whatever reason cookies have been used by websites for a long time and likely will be with us for a long time to come..
