Yes, that’s a great idea. Have the money travel with the student. So the student/parents get to pick where to get an education. This forces the schools to compete for funds. Competition makes things better.

I would agree.

Could we re-distribute that money so parents could send their kids to better run private schools in voucher form maybe? Take the best teachers in all the subjects and let them actually educate and not baby sit?

My daughter who holds a PHD in Biological science has been a teacher for over 25 years now. She heads the scince department at the local high school. What she told us yesterday about that school in the car as we drove up to see our granddaughter as a surprise visit was mind blowing.

The majority of "students" there are merely being baby sat. Parents have no interest in the school or the well being of their son/daughter's education. WHY is this? It gets back to "Administration" in the school district..

She said about Fifteen to twenty percent of the kids want to learn and the rest are just passing time with no interest in learning anything and being disruptive. Of course, the administration does not do anything about the disrupters in classrooms.. They do however like to blame teachers...

A brand new high school with Olympic pool, three gymnasiums, first class everything and the education just sucks..

So much for public education, or lack thereof....
