I would even do without the retributive consequences if I could just get rule of law back, and confidence those currently in power can never have power (including lobbying and "financial" power) again.
Otherwise the only way out is an absolute bloodbath. And knowledge that THAT is their only alternative fate is probably a lot of what keeps them focussed on our continued oppression.
Maybe give them the right to confess and retire, or to move out of the country and not come back. We are a long way from either of those choices being taken seriously by the Enemies Domestic. But a lot can, and will, change in the next 7 years - one way or another.
