Conclusion: " DeSantis would be wise to quit listening to the RINO donors and spend his time in Florida turning the state into a generational Republican stronghold. His presidential ambitions can wait for another four years while Trump finishes the job he started in the White House."
Trump has had years + LOTS OF RESOURCES to remake his usual modus operandi of boasting and name calling. I have no problem with him pulling that out strategically, and then putting it away again. But I would like to see him start off by demonstrating more behavioral change and self-control. This is something DeSantis appears to have mastered.
I've gone back and forth on whether Trump is the right person to run in 2024. For me it comes down to this: (1) He has the most determination to fight this fight, I think even if he knew it would cost him his life (which it may, given that killing is something the opposition uses all the time) (2) is his ability to attract greater than his ability to repulse?
He DROVE people to vote Democrat who otherwise were disinterested in voting and politics. The same can be said about his attraction to certain other people. I believe that most of those who might vote for him are already on board and don't need a lot of additional incentivising. The opposition he stirred up was more of a viseral reaction and I believe that if he came out and acting more self-controlled (Presidential) they would be more inclined to not care so much about politics in 2024.
That's just my thinking so far. One other thing: We need DeSantis to keep Florida safe AS A COUNTEREXAMPLE and as a backstop for 2028 and a possible future beyond Trump. We don't appear to have any other great candidates at this point (Well, Keri Lake comest to mind, but she is too untested in an executive role in governance, imo, to be voted in as President). Tulsi Gabbard? Maybe. But not yet as a Presidential contender, imo.
Is there anyone else who is both presentable and with sufficient "you're going to have to kill me to stop me" fire? I can't think of anyone.
And the danger that an untested person can be corrupted/blackmailed is considerable. Even with DeSantis that worries me a little bit.
Now that we KNOW our #1 enemy is the existing Washington D.C. establishment, normal politics won't work. Killng one person or 3,000, and then covering up the suspicion with mind control and propaganda, creates a need for an entirely different class of leadership on our end. Most of the Constitutional-based politicians are simply TOO NICE and too hobbled by reflexive “compassion” to successfully oppose such evil. We don't need an administrator: we need someone who isn't afraid to die to get the job done. Someone more like Andrew Jackson, I think?
