Yes sir.
without the abuility to do advanced mathematics and equations a wholelotof things we have today would not exist including nuclear fusion, electricity, computers and their respective "chips", and all the formulations to be able to determine certain parameters of things like bending, breaking, structural strengths, how to formulate lots of different things from steels, to plastics, concrete , etc.

So, yes sir, those pesky mathematics combines with the ability to know what words mean, (vocabulary), how to write things so other people know what one means and can understand, (English ), are all important for the continued advancement of discoveries, inventions, making of things that are used everyday by people.

It's not important for the craftmen and women who fabricate products out of those steels as long as those materials were specfied by someone who actually knlows what alloy or grade of materials are supposed to be used for a given project, for instance, when my team was workingon the HULL of the Abrams tank.. Material specifications and tolerances are critical things..

The difference between life and death in many instances. Structual strngths whjich fgo into calculations for building building and homes. Cars, trucks, jets, etc...

As far as the "liberal arts" so called diplomas from colleges, I don't have much use for them..

In Theology and Seminary a Bible College, University, will teach the students Hebrew, Greek, Theology, and meanings of various passages as well as other skills like dealing with people and the managerial skills of running the business side of a Church and doing it within the LAW.

So there are lots of things thatrequire more than a basic solid high school education.

At least that is what my over 40 years of working in these fields has formed in my brain.. YMMV.....

Its all good! Not EVERYONE meeds to go to college. IN fact, I would say a much smaller percentage than currently enrolled.. What exactly that percentage is depends on what these "kids" actually want to endeavor to become and what they will NEED TO KNOW in order to not kill the rest of us using a basic thing like a LADDER.....for example.....

It's a great discussion imo..... I think we are in agreement on it...

I am in the group which sees a college degree as really only important for certain technical jobs: engineer, architect, scientist, medical doctor, chemist, physicist, CPA, finance, etc.

All of those things require a LOT of mathematical fluency. And I have a hard time coming up with any technical degrees, at all, that don't require a LOT of mathematical fluency. (Care to suggest a few? Maybe lawyer, which requires VERY high English fluency...which is obviously "racist"...although just try and to be a great lawyer without it! And, FWIW, very high language fluency, such as required to be a great lawyer, is actually a good proxy for innate mathematical ability. Math is a LANGUAGE, after all.)

And, yes, I think ability to master high mathematical fluency is BOTH essential to human-kind continuing to have a decent future AND as a general test of intelligence. If someone wants to argue that current college admission tests are too culturally biased, then I say simply replace them with a test of advanced mathematical reasoning. Although I'm not sure many of the complainants would appreciate THAT change! ;-)

That would pretty much rule out all the WOKE, I expect. (Although no doubt there are a few of the top deluded who could pass, I expect if would be very, very, very few).

BTW, Why am I going on .. and on about this topic? Because we are NOT SUPPOSED to think about it, much less talk about it. Very few things strike so directly to the heart of Wokism/Marxism, and cut right through the BS and its hold on humanities' soul, then questioning how intelligence and hard work ethic are somehow "racist". We are supposed to shut up and swallow the narrative; that makes it imperative that real humans do the opposite. It is kind of pathetic how slaves-at-heart will fight to regain their chains!
