Re: “I have talked with applicants who were college grads who were some of the dumbest people I ever met.”
That's a great point. 'Educated' and 'High I.Q.' have totally different meanings.

I think I posted (or saw) a story here a few weeks ago about a college that is dropping algebra as a requirement because too many students are unable to pass it. Wow. It suggests we'll have a future in which 'College Educated' and 'Well Educated' also have totally different meanings.

In other news, one of my son's high school friends is on FB posting photos of her awesome job working the 'Winnie-The-Pooh' ride at Disney World. That's what her $125,000 drama degree bought for her.

Zim

I could not agree more with that. I think Fiz would too.
Not everybody needs to go to college. For lots of reasons.

There are highly successful people who are not college grads butwho have plenty of common sense.. That thing seems to go a long way.. I have talked with applicants who were college grads who were some of the dumbest people I ever met.

So I see college as means or requirement for particular levels of credentials and learning about specific subject matter that one cannot get outside of college.

Nurses, Doctors, engineers, physicists, pharmacists, CPA's, business management and leadership, teachers, and a lot more careers that society is dependent upon.

But those people who think they want to become someone in those professions , as you say, need to demonstrate the ability to absorb the information and retain it, to learn at a higher level as accountability for their future actions will be something many will encounter.

I want a cardiologist who has been thru medical school and years of learning from other experienced heart specialists. Not a high school grad.

I have no idea what the back and forth with Fiz and vice versa is but I am in total agreement of your last post and I believe FIZ would be also..

MAybe you both might agree on the same thing..

AND

Maybe not.. But debate from a different viewpoint is healthy and helps us grow in our knowledge of how others may see something.. Different than ourselves.

But I did like your last post.. Practical and to the point.. Bravo... Thumbs Up
