Hopefully, the end of Surovikin means the end of the large scale missile attacks on Ukraine. Ukraine's power companies survived. Ukrainian will prevailed.

The Russian guided missile arsenal is also much reduced. Otherwise they wouldn't be buying Iranian missiles.

They are nearly out of categories of weapons to try. They've used planes and helicopters, tanks, artillery, drones, missiles. Next on the list: waves of conscripts armed with ancient rifles.

That's great news. Sergei Surovikin was brutal but competent. It's a lottery if the new guy is any good. Hopefully he'll do the sorts of thing Putin demands. Doubling down, over-reaching, avoiding retreat at any cost. These things will be disastrous, of course.

But we'll find out. It's difficult to do anything constructive with the army of drunks and convicts he has.
