My wife and I leave early tomorrow morning for Michigan where we will be spending the holidays with family, on both sides. We're going to be spending most of our time at my wife's sister's house in Adrian (just across the border from Ohio) but we'll also be seeing our youngest son and his fiancee and some cousins whom we haven't seen since before the COVID.
Now it's true that the weather doesn't look all that good for Thursday and Friday, which will be our last two days on the road. Our first night will be in Gallup, New Mexico and the second will be in Yukon, Oklahoma (just West of Oklahoma City). The third night, Thursday, is scheduled for Vandalia, Illinois, weather permitting.
When we get to Oklahoma, if the road conditions up toward Michigan looks too treacherous, we'll either turn around and go back home, or if it's clear, we'll head South and spend the holidays with our oldest son and his family down in Katy, Texas.
Anyway, we'll keep everyone up-to-date as we make our way toward Michigan.
BTW, when we were younger, and had to take time off from work, we used to make this trip with only two nights on the road, not three, like we've planned for this trip. And if everything goes well, we'll be back home in SoCal by the first weekend in January, the 6th being the earliest, with the 10th being the latest.
