He doesn't. He's Murdoch's pick, and definitely not mine.

Murdoch is also the problem. Before he came along, the GOP was broader-minded. I think it was Murdoch who ushered in Gingrich, and the supposedly libertarian, but actually plutocratic GOP was born.

I don't know anything about Youngkin. But institutional conservatives aren't going to win anything in the GOP right now, if they even remain in the party. My sense is they started to depart under Dubya and entirely vacated the GOP under Trump.

IMO, the party needs to find a path back towards traditional conservatism. But it means leaving behind the destructive, conspiratorial, dogmatic space it occupies. And they don't have the sense to do that yet.

DeSantis doesn't fit your description. He's a divider, a name caller, a 'Trump' with no personality. His list of offensives is so long, there is no way he'll sell nationally. Maybe Gov. Youngkin. At least he can apologize when realized his error wrt Paul Pelosi. He wrote Nancy a letter, besides apologizing verbally. I don't know much about him, yet, but he seems more palatable nationally.
