It's almost amusing to watch Republican hatred of Dems in action. They so want to "own the Libs". Or the Libtards. Or the Demonrats. Or whatever badge they stick on their opponents.
It's the unifying factor. I am guessing it's cathartic. Perhaps it's a tribal identifier.
And yet, it's so primitive. And so ineffective, because no Democrat actually cares about silly labels. Sticks and stones. And no independent is swayed by them, because it's in the nature of being independent to be disinterested in tribal identifiers.
Apparently Republicans don't even recognise their own addiction to labels. And that it's their visceral hatred of Dems which is the real source of their enthusiasm and their partisan bond.
I do hope there's a Republican who can actually deliver a message which unifies their party because he/she has interesting/ constructive policy ideas. It would be great for the US and the world if such a person emerges. It would be good for the Dems too, because it's too easy for moderate Dems to win the argument against brutalist right-wingers and conspiracy-minded MAGA supporters.
If there was only such a thing as a traditional conservative movement in the US, leaning towards the wisdom of prudence and institutional continuity, as opposed to the grotesque Limbaugh misunderstanding of conservatism's meaning as a set of inflexible dogmas and the desire for the destruction of government.
