One thing that has happened recently.

Putin has reeled in his nuclear threats. Presumably the Chinese told him to because nuclear fall-out affects them too.

So the Ukraine War will remain a conventional one. And Russia will lose such a war because it is running out of equipment and ammunition.

Of course, it will do as much damage as possible using missiles. But that sort of destruction will be its entire achievement. It will have ruined itself. And Ukraine will be rebuilt.

It is because Russia has ruined itself that I think it will fall apart. Why remain part of a failed federation?

which I've believed he will do since he failed to take Kyiv, I assume he will soon lose control of Russia.

Then what happens?

We might get another leader of Russia and probably a better one as Putin is about as bad as it gets.

But in the same way as the Soviet Union crumbled, I think it might split into regions. That will remove the problem of Russian bullying for the foreseeable future.

Five countries: Karelia in the north with St Petersburg as its capital; Muscovy in the west with Moscow as its capital; Ciscaucasia in the south wth Volgograd as its capital; and Siberian Transuralstan in the east, perhaps with Novosibirsk or Irkutsk as its capital. Kaliningrad becomes another independent Baltic state, between Poland and Lithuania.
