Speaking of ranked-choice voting, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton called it a 'scam' and thinks it's horrible that a Democrat won the special Congressional election in Alaska on Tuesday. After all, 60% of the people voted for a Republican during the 'primary' that decided who could run in the special election, yet, in the end, a Democrat won. Apparently Cotton thinks that elections are won by the party and NOT the individual. What did the Republicans think was going to happen when multiple Republicans were running in the same election? Cotton also claimed that this is America and the person who gets the most votes should win, which BTW, Mary Peltola, the Democrat, did get the most votes in the special election. In fact, she not only got the most votes, she got the majority of the votes. Granted, she only got a plurality in the 'primary', which used the ranked-choice voting scheme to decide who would run in the special election, but Ms. Peltola still won at all steps along the way.
But if Tom Cotton really wants to argue that the person getting the most votes should be declared the winner, he should take that up with Al Gore and Hillary Clinton.
