The search for documents by Trump's attorney, Alina Habba, is getting more interesting by the minute.
Either she lied. Or Trump had another hiding place for documents and hid them there during Habba's prior search and the subsequent search by his staff. If the account of two searches are accurate, Habba's search took place a few days prior to the May subpoena, which presumably she was expecting. The Mar-a-Lago staff search seems to have taken place after the subpoena was issued.
Habba signed off on the fact that there were no other classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. But of course, there were hundreds of them, including one at least with the names of all of America's overseas agents! Good grief.
By Trump's reaction to the later FBI search in August, he must have thought Mar-a-Lago was secure against a third party search and he was blindsided by it.
He's going to throw Habba under the bus, of course. She didn't do a thorough search etc. But three of the classified documents were in his desk drawer.
Who put them there, with his passports, we ask?
Boy, is he in trouble.
She is going to be a witness for the prosecution. Or in jail. Her choice.

"Habba's court filing also features a sworn affidavit from Trump where he says he "authorized Alina Habba to search my private residence and personal office located at The Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida for any and all documents responsive to the Subpoena."
The reason this matters, writes Politico, is that Habba told the court that she searched for documents in many of the locations that would subsequently be searched by FBI agents who found that the twice-impeached former president had stashed top secret government documents at the resort despite receiving a subpoena to turn them over.
"Just six days after Habba said she examined every corner of Mar-a-Lago, the Justice Department subpoenaed 'any and all documents or writings in the custody or control of Donald J. Trump and/or the Office of Donald J. Trump bearing classification markings,'" the publication writes. "After that subpoena was issued, Trump indicated that he responded by ordering staff to conduct a thorough search of the property for documents marked as classified.""
