"Liz Truss has defended earnings at energy companies amid soaring price rises, saying profits should not be considered "dirty and evil".

The Tory leadership hopeful said windfall taxes on profits - urged by some to fund help for households - were about "bashing business"."

Liz Truss says people who are worried about energy company profits are only interested in bashing business.

But more than one thing can be true.

It can be the case that making profits is generally a good thing, that windfall profits from wars aren't so much a sign of virtue, and that one can be genuinely concerned about the situation for poor people when fuel prices run amock.

Why is Liz Truss incapable of seeing the world in its spherical shape? You don't have to bully the vulnerable to be a conservative.

Already regretting the departure of Boris over small stuff, when the big things are about to get worse.
