What a strange situation!

He'd probably have immunity in normal circumstances, as, from what I've read, the Justice Department seems to have an incredibly broad interpretation of presidential powers and protections. Your president is almost above the law.

But not quite. In this situation, in which the president was trying to mount a coup, he's potentially liable for the injuries caused in doing so. He's beyond any constitutional protection when his goal is to destroy the constitution itself. He can't have it both ways.
