I'd hate to think this was just a poke in the eye. The US-China relationship over Taiwan is one of constructive obfuscation. You don't want to give China an excuse to invade the island.

I haven't formed an opinion yet about this.

My questions.

Is this a deliberate change in the US diplomatic stance towards China-Taiwan?

Or is Pelosi acting on her own initiative?

Sensitive foreign policy isn't really her thing, so is she the best person to represent the US in this situation?

If she is representing the US, what is behind the new, more agressive policy? What message is Biden sending to China and why?
