You may be right. I just don't follow the details closely enough to have an idea.
The US really should think of separating its powers differently. You might want a president that acts as the source of trust (equivalent to the queen) and a separate government that is responsible for the operation of the country, enacts laws etc. Of course, right now, your House has some peculiar representatives. But responsibility would follow the accumulation of power soon enough if it also had things to run.
There's too much power in the hands of the president. It makes you vulnerable to nutcases.
