"Top Zelensky aide hails Boris as 'first leader to face Kyiv rocket fire' as PM steps down

A CLOSE ally of Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has thanked outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson for always being at the forefront of supporting his nation.

Mykhailo Podolyak hailed Boris Johnson as "a person who began to call a spade a spade from the beginning" of Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine. He said Mr Johnson had realised "the threat of Russian monster and always being at the forefront of supporting Ukraine"."

I agree. He was out front from the beginning.

When the EU was thinking about its dependence on Russian oil and Biden was saying Zelensky should flee at the outset of the war, both anticipating a swift Russian victory, Boris was already sending arms. In particular, the shoulder-launched anti-tank missiles, which helped a lot, particularly during the first few weeks.

It was, of course, a great relief when America took over the burden of leadership.

For that, amongst other things, he will be remembered well.

The Brexit theme generally is that the UK is able to make decisions quickly now. I hope the next PM takes advantage of the flexibility we now have.
