What a relief it must be knowing that criminals won't bring guns to those places anymore!

I'm kidding, of course. The law will not affect criminals. They will still show up with their guns if they're so inclined. The proper response to the new law is, therefore: "NICE GOING, NEW YORK. Now if you get an active shooter, there's no chance that anybody present will be able to stop him. Or her. Or it."

Remember Luby's cafeteria, Texas, 1991. A gunman walked in and methodically worked his way around the room, shooting everyone he found. A survivor with a concealed carry permit had, as required by law, not brought her firearm into the restaurant. The killer reached her table and executed both of her parents.
