The dependence of Germany on Russian energy is really hitting home

Russia is doing its usual routine. Doing nasty things and lying about it.

They are disrupting the supply of gas to Germany now to make them desperate in the winter.

Merkel's policy of dependence has been utterly exposed. Germany is going to have to rethink it's policy of appeasing Putin. It needs to join the effort to push him back into Russia in more than a half-hearted way. That's the only thing that will work.

The hope. I don't know if Russia's army in Ukraine will last long enough to reach the winter. I presume they have ring-fenced reserves to fight NATO if necessary. But, apart from artillery, this Ukraine army seems like it is running on empty.

Meanwhile, let Europe buy lots more renewable energy.

ps Lucky for the UK, due to years of Putin scepticism, we are not dependent on Russian energy. But we are affected by high fuel prices. Same goes for the US, I suppose.
