From a British viewpoint, so long as Trump isn't the candidate, I'll be in some ways happier to see a Republican win. This has nothing to do with US domestic politics. It's just that Biden, Pelosi and the Dems have swerved back towards a Sinn Fein view of Ireland as if Northern Ireland wishes to be reunited with the south and its only British imperiallism which prevents it.

It all sounds romantic to them, doubtless, although the inconvenient fact is that the majority of Northern Irish people wish to stay in the UK. Nevertheless, the Irish-American Dems funded the IRA terrorist organisation for decades. And the inflexibility of the current Democratic Party and its attempts to extort the UK over Atlantic trade to prevent us doing what we need to over trade between Northern Ireland and the rest of Britain is stirring old animosities. The Dems are not so friendly to our country, sadly.

I'm not one for the politics of victimhood. But like most folks, I worry about individuals who are vulnerable today.

I'd like to see the Dems focus more on what will make America hum. As a political message, optimism sells. Restitution fails.
