Of course, deeply disappointing.

Another perspective.

Given the concern of the police about risk to their own lives, it's strange that they shoot so many others recklessly.

Their care about risk is extremely unbalanced.

The New York Times BREAKING NEWS

Heavily armed Uvalde officers waited over an hour to confront the gunman, in part because their commander feared for their safety.
Thursday, June 9, 2022 3:55 PM ET

The officers delayed confronting the gunman despite supervisors at the scene being told that wounded students were trapped inside with him.
Instead, documents show, they waited for protective equipment to lower the risk to law enforcement officers.
