Proving yet again, Fox 'news' is NOT NEWS!
Fox News will not air 1/6 hearing in full
The ABC, CBS, and NBC broadcast networks have all confirmed that they are "planning to carry Thursday night's hearing live, with David Muir, Norah O'Donnell, and Lester Holt anchoring, respectively," VF reported on Monday. "Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper will anchor CNN's special coverage," and MSNBC will carry the hearing live too.
Network leaders intrinsically know that the bipartisan committee's findings about the attack on the US Capitol are important for the nation to hear. Which is why Fox's decision is so extraordinary. The network said Monday that it will not show the prime time hearing. Instead, Tucker Carlson's show will air as usual. Carlson promotes conspiracy theories about the riot, calls the committee "illegitimate," and ridicules the committee's members, so he will essentially counter-program the hearing. Fox says its prime time shows "will cover the hearings as news warrants," so maybe Carlson will dip into the live feed, rant about it, and move on.
Fox's top news anchors, Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, will be moved over to the Fox Business Network, and they will cover the hearing there on Thursday. Their coverage will also be offered to Fox broadcast affiliates as an optional special report. But consider this: At 8pm ET on an ordinary night, Fox News has more than 3 million viewers, while Fox Business has fewer than 100,000. So that pretty much says it all about Fox's priorities. On the flagship cable network, "Gutfeld" will be preempted at 11pm, and Shannon Bream "will anchor a two-hour live special," joined by Baier and MacCallum...
