Top U.S. officials met with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, the first such meeting with Americans in Ukraine since the war began.

The U.S. government went to extraordinary lengths to to keep everything about the trip by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin under wraps until the men were safely out of Ukraine, declining even to confirm that it was taking place. But it was an open secret.
