I am not sure how strong western militaries are in terms of short range missile systems. But whatever we had, we need more of them.

And we should get ourselves a whole load more drones and so on to destroy Russian artillery operating at a distance.

All of this asap, because if Russia makes progress in Ukraine, then they are next door to several more NATO countries.

I don't doubt we can defeat their conventional army if we invest agressively. The 2% of GDP target is probably enough. But let's get there pronto.

And we ought to arm up Ukraine to make them a strong neutral power, if we are not adding them to NATO. Russia's idea to weaken them is an obvious non-starter.

That leaves Russia's nuclear threat. But that will have to be dealt with by negotiators, unless there's some secret system to destroy nuclear missiles in flight.

All very obvious, but worth saying all the same.

It's just too much of a cost to be connected to a regime that wants to damage everyone else.

Let's assume they lose in Ukraine. That's still not the time to remove sanctions. They need to change in several ways.

No more government lying.

No more interfering in elections.

No more bullying and threatening anyone.

No more autocratic leadership.

No more crooked oligarchs.

No more corrupt judges.

If we can see those kinds of changes, then I'd welcome them back and would hope to see them prosper.

At least one thing has changed. The threat they pose as a conventional force is much reduced. Thank you, Ukrainian heroes.
