Hi fizzy,
Do you have an old post which explains your quote: "I have come to realize that men are not born to be free. Liberty is a need felt by a small class of people whom nature has endowed with nobler minds than the mass of men. -Napoleon"?
Is your posting it meant to be ironic, it being Napoleon, the notorious censor and dictator, saying it?
Do you know when he said it?
Do you think he is talking about himself when he describes people with nobler minds versus the mass of men and, if so, isn't that a little superior of him and instead, isn't the thing to notice his sense that the mass of men are "not born to be free", an ignoble thought of the sort dictators have?
What does he mean by freedom and liberty, do you think? Not quite the same thing as your Jefferson who wanted freedom for all mankind and who was happy to see it unfold within the framework of a popular constitutional document.
