I forgot to put Obama's Red Line on my list. Obama was a bluffer and got caught. Another contribution to Putin's aggression.
It doubtless sounds like I am carping on about America. And I am definitely not saying, contrast yourself with how wonderful we are. Yes, we participated in the justification for the Iraq War. Our role is a different one and we have made mistakes too.
But I just hate the fact that Biden's first idea of a new world order was not a vision, which he hasn't provided, but US precedence. There's the nature of the problem we have been having. It's all about jostling for position and nothing about big ideas.
I want to know how we produce a better world. This won't be possible unless there are things we wish to create together and things we agree we wish to avoid. Great leaders identify those things. Others follow because the vision is there, not because someone says, there's a queue. I'm first.
America no longer provides a shining example, in my view. I hope it looks in the mirror to find and fix its own issues before climbing back on its familiar pulpit. I don't really know yet if Biden's presidency will be a successful one. From over here, he hasn't looked all that great. But that may be UK-centric. Better than Trump, of course.
