McConnell calls Jan. 6 a 'violent insurrection,' breaking with RNC
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday broke with the Republican National Committee over its characterization of the events of Jan. 6 as "legitimate political discourse," saying instead the attack on the Capitol was a "violent insurrection." The Kentucky Republican also criticized the RNC for its censure of GOP Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for their roles on the Jan. 6 committee.
