The US has basically become culturally incoherent. People have had at least two decades to resolve the issues since Gingrich divided the country along ideological lines.

No one has come up with a cure. Biden hasn't. It's too big a project for him. The sore continues to weep. People fear a civil war. The US constitutional structure just doesn't work well enough when it faces major structural issues. Couldn't even stop slavery.

Sometimes a fresh start is a good idea. Better than autocracy. For America and for the world.
